Gallery One will feature artists selected by judge Jane Grace Taylor, in the Figurative Annual, a brand new group exhibition at Rome Art And Community Center. The Figurative Annual is a new initiative, created by the Center's own Gallery Committee (a group of artists and arts patrons who select the lineup for each year's Visual Arts program). This exhibit features artwork with the human figure as subject matter, only.
Gallery Two features new works by Gale Farley, in his exhibit entitled "Conversations and Associations". Since moving to the Mohawk Valley in 1981, Gale Farley has operated a commercial photography studio. He was previously an adjunct instructor at Mohawk Valley Community College and is currently an Associate Professor of Photographic Technology at Herkimer County Community College. He holds a B.S. in Photography from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas and an M.F.A. in Photography from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. His work is held in many private and public collections.
The Library Gallery features an exhibit by artist Jennifer Lorenz, of Whitesboro. "Love of the romantic and picturesque has fueled my imagination, and the creation of my art" said Lorenz. "I find inspiration in the places that I have lived in and loved, and in the beautiful and whimsical moments of life. Her work has been shown in various locations, including the Westside Gallery in New York City, the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute Sidewalk Show in Utica, NY, and as a part of The Sketchbook Project, where my piece toured with others throughout the United States. Arttwork for this project is housed in the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Art Library.
The Conference Room Gallery will once again host Rome City School art for the months of February through June.
